The thing about love is that it has so many dimensions. The way it happens for one couple may be totally different from how it goes for another and in there, lies its power! Samirah and Yusuf can definitely relate with this.

Samirah and Yusuf met for the first time in an office setting where Samirah was to intern with Yusuf supervising her. The pair just never seemed to be in agreement and they probably didn’t imagine ever ending up together but here they are! Their love story as shared by Samirah:

Firstly, I’m smiling as I type this because the thought of this man gives me butterflies in my tummy! I met him during my internship at NAFWC (Nigerian AirForce Works Center) in July 2018. He was the supervisor assigned to me. Believe me when I say it was not love at first sight. 😂

We were always clashing. From him complaining about the things I didn’t do well, to me giving him attitude because helloooo! I’m a baby girl please, don’t boss me around. I remember calling my close friends and telling them about one flying officer with a black face at my workplace I did not like, little did I know he will become my husband. (I dey marry the black face. 😂)

After a few weeks, he started being friendly and really nice to me so I reciprocated. Not gonna lie, I got attached. I mean who wouldn’t? He was part of my schedule. We go to work together, come back together, think of what we’d eat when we get back and all that.

I finished my internship and went back to school but we still kept in touch. He would call me every day and listen to me rant about how my day went and how school was frustrating me. Fast forward to the 10th of December 2018 he asked me to be his girlfriend which of course I accepted because a girl was already in love.

Our love grew through all odds and our bond got stronger Alhamdulillah. On the 31st December 2020, he asked me to marry him. There was no reason not to say YES to the most amazing man in the world. I’m ecstatic to spend forever with him because in him I found peace! ❤️
