Cupid came bearing the sweetest gift for Amaka on her birthday, four years ago. She met the love of her life, Kene, after a mutual friend had posted her photo to wish her a happy birthday.
Kene seized the opportunity to slide into her DMs and their first conversation lasted for over 6 hours non-stop! It was as though they had known each other forever and they soon became friends… Now, lovers! They tied the knot in a colourful traditional wedding with their family and friends present. They repped their Igbo roots beautifully and it was a fine blend of love and culture. Their undeniable chemistry has us in our feels – you’ll definitely love to see it too.
Enjoy their traditional wedding photos and love story below:
Their love story as shared by Amaka:
Kene and I met at the beginning of the pandemic. It was my birthday on the 14th of April 2020. One of my friends posted my picture in our social forum to wish me a happy birthday. We had this large social forum where we planned events and celebrated people on their special days. Kene was one of the guys who slid into my DM to wish me a happy birthday. It took me a couple of days to reply to him because I was enjoying my birthday week, LMAO! However, when I finally replied, he replied immediately, and we started chatting. We chatted for over 6 hours non-stop. We went to bed, woke up and continued chatting. Our dates were video calls because of the lockdown. It took us many weeks to finally see each other.
It’s trad o’clock! Let’s take in the beauty of this decor
I was nervous about meeting him in person because I didn’t know if we would connect the way we did through chats and all those video calls, and luckily, we did. We started as friends lol, then progressed into a full-blown relationship lol! We came to realize that we have so many things in common. We always enjoy every second we spend together and have the opportunity to learn ourselves. Since then, Kene has always been there for me; he is very supportive, loving and caring. Aside from my Mom, he is the funniest person I’ve ever known.
Amaka in all her beauty 😍
A week before Christmas in 2021, he told me he would like to take me to one of the exotic restaurants I’ve always wanted to visit but never had the chance. We went there and had a beautiful and romantic date night on top of the city. After the dinner, he said he booked a hotel for the night because he couldn’t drive home as he lives over an hour from the restaurant. We went to the hotel, and he opened the door, then I saw my friends and the beautiful decorations, that was when Kene asked me to marry him!!! I HAD THE BEST ENGAGEMENT PARTY. You know when they say you need to find “your person”? Kene is my person, my best friend, my soulmate, and my lover, and I can’t imagine my life without him; I pray that our love lasts forever.
Kene made such a dapper groom
Their love story as shared by Kene:
Amaka and I met in April 2020 during the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown. It was her birthday, and she was posted on a social forum which we both were members of, and I privately messaged her to give my birthday wishes. From then onwards, we started talking, chatting over the telephone, and learning ourselves better and, eventually, met up for our first date after a couple of weeks due to the lockdown. Coincidentally, during our first date, I discovered that Amaka was an admin on the social forum when I joined the group in 2018 and was the person who gave me the virtual walkthrough of the group at that time. Talk about fate bringing people back to each other.
All the feels of love 😍
Amaka has been a very kind, loving, selfless, supportive and understanding partner throughout our friendship and relationship. She’s equally a good Christian and very hard-working academically and professionally. She is a beautiful lady with a good heart. We also equally share similar lifetime ambitions and goals, and I knew that she was the one for me. So, on December 18th, 2021, I went down on one knee and proposed to her to marry me. Then, as fate would have it again, unknowingly to me, the engagement date I picked was exactly the date I arrived in Canada many years ago from Nigeria. I look forward to having a blissful union with my future wife, Amaka.
