Our first encounter came about during the most unexpected of times, I was recovering from a major surgery when we first started talking, although he didn’t know it at the time. By the time we had our first date, my surgery scars were well on their way to healing and I took that as a good sign, no one wants to limp to their first date I suppose. Before that, we already had long-winded conversations on the phone about anything and everything.

I remember our first date like it was just yesterday because we were the last to leave the restaurant, the restaurant owners had started packing up and cleaning other tables around us to give us the hint that they were closing up. The weeks and days that followed were full of fun, honest and intentional interactions, and very naturally, we fell in love. It felt safe, organic and peaceful. We both knew very clearly what we wanted and we reminisce together quite often about how lucky we were to have found that in each other.
