It Was Love at First Sight! Read Alice & Adoteh’s Love Story

Sometimes, love has a way of sneaking up on you in the most unexpected places—like at a bar where you mistake your future partner for the bouncer! That’s exactly how Alice and Adoteh’s love story began.

Alice walked into a bar in town, with her friend, Daria, and immediately noticed the handsome man by the door, dressed in all black. She couldn’t resist sneaking glances at him while trying to look like she wasn’t looking (you know the drill!). As fate would have it, their paths crossed again when Adoteh finally made his move, offering to buy her a drink. Their banter was effortless, their connection instant, and the rest, as they say, is history.

Alice and Adoteh’s story is proof that love can find you when you least expect it—and sometimes, with a little mistaken identity for added flair!

Their love story as shared by Alice:

We met at his favorite bar called The Flat. I walked in with my friend Daria, and Adoteh was sitting right next to the door wearing all black. My friend and I instantly thought he was a bouncer. However, I must say that I thought he was a very handsome bouncer. Daria and I walked up to the bar, and I made sure to position myself to where I could steal some glances at the “bouncer” by the door. I also made sure to look like I hadn’t noticed him, you know, that looking but not looking look. While we were at the bar one of my male friends came and joined us, all I could think was that I hope Mr. Bouncer doesn’t think this man is my boyfriend.

My friends and I eventually went outside to have a seat, once again I made sure to position myself to get another look at him just in case he walked outside and as faith would have it, he walked outside (no one can persuade me that he wasn’t looking for me) and we locked eyes for what felt like forever, and then he smoothly turned around and went back inside the bar. My spirit told me that before I leave this place today, I must talk to this man and before I knew it an opportunity presented itself and I found myself back inside where he was.

Once again, I walked straight to the bar with my friend to get another drink “pretending” not to notice him. Just when I got my drink and I started to walk back outside, Mr. Bouncer finally did something! He grabbed my hand and said that he was planning to buy my second round. I told him he should have bought it, but he said that he saw me with me guy friend and didn’t want to intrude. I made sure to quickly clear that up and let him know that we are just friends. We got to talking and he eventually asked me where I was from, and I told him that I am Nigerian, but I was born here (Houston). This man had the audacity to tell me that “You’re not Nigerian, you’re American”. I wanted to ask him “my guy, are you okay?”. But lucky for him I easily laughed it off, and the conversation proceed, by this time my friends were long forgotten (sorry guys!).

However, before we knew it the bar was closing. But, before we went our separate ways he asked, “should I take your number” (which I found to be an interesting way of asking), however, I responded “you should”. We exchanged numbers and he has been blowing my phone up ever since! P.S. He wasn’t a Bouncer.
