As a wedding planner, did you find planning your wedding easier or harder than expected?

As a wedding planner, I thought I’d have an advantage when planning my wedding. However, I found it to be emotionally draining and more challenging. By taking on the role of creative director and planner, I added an extra layer of responsibility to the already overwhelming experience of being a bride. Not only was I tasked with ensuring every detail was perfect, but I was also navigating the emotional pressures that come with being a bride – managing family and friend expectations, making joint decisions with my fiancé, and balancing my own emotions. Essentially, I was wearing two hats, and it was far more difficult than I anticipated. Even though I almost lost my sanity, I am so glad it was a success in the end.

Did you experience any challenges? If yes, what was the most unexpected challenge you faced while planning your wedding?

As a wedding planner, I had a clear vision for my special day. However, I soon realized that accommodating family decisions and expectations would require some flexibility. The most unexpected challenge I faced was balancing my desires with the needs and opinions of my loved ones. As the bride, I had to make difficult decisions while being mindful of the feelings of those around me.
Another unforeseen challenge was managing the Aso Ebi process. Having never handled this aspect personally for my clients, I underestimated the complexity involved. Sourcing custom-made Aso Ebi, navigating price fluctuations due to economic changes, and coordinating distribution to guests proved to be a daunting task. The experience taught me patience, adaptability, and the importance of clear communication.
Lastly, the lack of enough beauty sleep leading up to my wedding day also contributed to my anxiety about having to look great as a bride. On the morning of both my traditional and white wedding, I woke up with puffy, red eyes. Thankfully, my incredible beauty team came to the rescue! They worked their magic to calm me down, applying ice bags to my eyes for an extended period to reduce the swelling. Their expertise and care helped me feel more relaxed and prepared for the big day ahead.
Despite these challenges, I learned invaluable lessons that have enhanced my skills as a wedding planner. The success of my wedding was a testament to the support of my fiancé, picking the right service providers and the expertise of the TrendyBEEvents Team whom I trained for many years.

How did you balance being a bride and making sure everything ran smoothly?

Balancing being a bride and ensuring a flawless wedding was a daunting task. As a planner, I’m accustomed to being behind the scenes, but as the bride, I yearned to enjoy the experience. However, my creative director mindset took over, and I found myself preoccupied with every detail, 24/7. As a renowned event planner, I felt pressure to deliver an exceptional wedding that met my high standards. With over a decade of experience in creating jaw-dropping events, I had a reputation to uphold.
To cope with the stress and emotions, I relied on prayer, support from loved ones, and self-care. My fiancé was my rock, providing emotional support throughout. Friends and family showered me with love, hosting a surprise bridal shower and gifting me spa treatments and financial blessings.
While I missed out on some of the traditional bridal experiences, I’m grateful for the outcome. My wedding was a beautiful reflection of my passion for event planning, and I’m thankful for the love and support that carried me through.

How did your partner feel about you being a wedding planner during the process? Was he super involved or team “Do your thing, I trust you?”

At first, my partner gave me the freedom to take the reins, trusting my expertise as a wedding planner. However, as the process unfolded and he saw me struggling to balance my dual roles as bride and planner, he swooped in to support His bride.
He became my rock, providing emotional, and financial support and helping to mediate family-sensitive discussions. I must say, having him by my side made all the difference. He was my Superman, saving the moment when I needed it most. His involvement and trust in me helped me stay sane during the planning process, and I’m forever grateful.

If you could relive one moment from your wedding day, what would it be?

I must say, I was very intentional about enjoying my wedding days thoroughly, all events were joyous celebrations from start to finish, filled with laughter, love, and unforgettable moments. But You see that My first dance was something extra special – a moment I’d love to relive again and again. Looking into his eyes as we swayed to our favourite music was truly unforgettable. The songs we chose held special meaning to our relationship, making the experience even more sentimental.
