Love is serious business, and sometimes, the best love stories begin right at work. This beautiful journey started six years ago when Gbubemi slid into Georgia’s DMs with a collaboration offer.
Even though he didn’t get an instant response, you’ll agree that this gesture opened up the universe to align their paths once again… and when it did, the connection was instant. Now, it’s all sparks and butterflies as they embark on a beautiful journey of bliss. They are blessing us with sweet doses of love with their pre-wedding shoot and we can’t get enough! We are so happy for them as they embark on this forever journey.

Their love story as shared by the Bride:
On December 31st, 2018, amidst the holiday rush, I received a message on my business page from a man named Gbubemi. He was interested in becoming one of our vendors/photographers. I made a mental note to respond after my travels but I never did (till date he still ‘yabs’ me about ignoring his first message). Fast forward to February 2019, I posted about a bridal shower giveaway we were planning, and Gbubemi reached out again, offering to sponsor and photograph the event. The bridal shower day arrived, and it was the first time I met him in person. Gbubemi walked in with his witty and funny comments (I noticed how he smiled and laughed so heartily), and before long, I was laughing. After the event, he called me, and we started talking. We became friends from that day forward.
What truly endeared me to him was his unwavering support for my business and his constant push for me to succeed. His love for food, adventure, and his good-natured jokes got me hooked. We would explore different spots and locations, eating and hanging out. Before long we became besties and a wonderful work duo. Everyone kept saying how we would make a lovely couple or just assumed that we were one already. I guess they all saw this before I did (Wetin I Dey find for sokoto was in my sokoto). Our love story metamorphosed from business colleagues to friends, then besties, proposal happened on my birthday February 2023. I did not see it coming, firstly because we had just transitioned from besties to lovers. He said, “I always knew you were the one.”
Their love story as shared by the groom:
Our story began on December 31st, 2018. I was contacting all the planners in Benin City, Edo state, hoping to collaborate with them. When I came across Georgia’s business page, I decided to send her a message, offering my services as a photographer but she didn’t respond. Fast forward to February 2019, Georgia posted about a bridal shower giveaway she was organizing. I reached out again and offered to sponsor and photograph the event to which she responded. The day of the bridal shower arrived, and it was the first time I met her in person. She was even more beautiful than her photos—perfectly curved (my spec 😉), shy, with a bubbly personality.
We started talking at the event, and what began as a professional interaction quickly turned into something more. We talked about life, both within and outside the events industry, and I was amazed to learn that she was still actively practicing law (at the time) while building her event planning business. Georgia’s dedication and passion were inspiring. She is hardworking, smart, and incredibly well-put-together. Her warm personality made it impossible not to love her. Our friendship blossomed as we continued to support each other’s dreams. I saw her immense passion and dedication to her work, and it motivated me to support her in any way I could. Seeing her happy and successful fueled my desire to support her even more. Likewise, she encouraged me, giving the best advice with a wisdom that belied her age. She believed in me even when I doubted myself and always pushed me to do more.
We bonded over our shared love for food and adventure. I loved taking Georgia out of her comfort zone, exploring new food places, and going on trips. Our long conversations during these adventures made us inseparable, and somewhere along the way, I fell in love with her. I can’t pinpoint the exact moment, but I always knew deep down that she was the one.
The proposal was something I planned with great care. During a meeting with my pastor, we discussed proposals, and Georgia mentioned she wanted a very private one, with just the two of us—no decor, no camera. I got the ring and decided to propose on her birthday. She didn’t see it coming at all. When she said yes, I was the happiest man ever.
