Editor‘s Note: Hey guys, we are super excited about this week’s bridal beauty deep-dive. Yes! we are going deep into the behind-the-scenes of creating this flawless on Oyinwa in Italy for her wedding. This feature is from talented London-based Makeup Artist, Joy Adenuga. She will be sharing with us the tricks, hacks, and secrets behind this glam. Enjoy and see you in the comment section. Before then, you can catch up with other features here.
Before the Wedding
My first point of contact to Oyinwa was via her wedding planner – RAE Affairs, a US-based wedding, and event planner. I was not free on the original date of the wedding but the date subsequently changed and I was booked for her makeup immediately.
On the Wedding
I flew to Italy from another bridal booking in Croatia and bumped into the hairstylist – Tola of Charis Hair at Florence Airport. We shared a taxi to our hotel. On the wedding day, we both made our way to the bride’s Hotel. While Tola started on hair prep, I arranged my set up for work.
Makeup process
Oyinwa is blessed with lovely normal skin so prep was quite quick. I started by doing a quick cleanse using Garnier cleansing water and MAC fix + to hydrate. I filled her brows in with Evita Joseph brow pencil in Chestnut brown and MAC brow gel in show off. I used MAC paint pot in Laying low to act as the lid base and the eye look was created using Smashbox Cosmetics Vlada petal metal cover shot palette.
Oyinwa loved her eye look so much and insisted on natural lashes to allow the eye colour to stand out. On her skin prep, I mixed Embryolisse lait cream with Charlotte Tilbury Wonder glow and massaged into her skin for a healthy glow. I then used Becca ever matte primer on only areas of her face prone to shine – nose, forehead, and chin. On her face, I used the NARS Foundation all day luminous in the shade – MACAO followed by Kevyn Aucoin the etherealist natural concealer in a mix of 7 and 8 under her eyes to brighten it up. Then set them with RCMA no colour loose powder. The rest of her face was set using the same powder followed by MAC studio fix powder in NC50.
On her cheek, the blush I applied was MAC blush in Breezy followed by Danessa Myricks Enlight powder in Gocha glow. For the contouring, I used Smashbox contour kit palette in Deep. When I came to her lips, I lined them with a mix of MAC lip pencils in Chestnut and Nightmoth. For the lipstick, I applied the Lipstick Aj Crimson lipstick in L23 followed by a clear lipgloss.
I didn’t capture Oyinwa’s full dress on camera made by Ese Azenabor Atelier. The dress literally stopped traffic on the streets of Florence! Like Wow! If you want to catch up with more of my work, visit www.joyadenuga.com.
