Love has no manual, no patterns or formulas to it – just beauty, as it unfolds. Stephanie and Reuben were family friends who attended the same secondary school.
Little did they know that years down the line, love would show up and create something magical. Stephanie and Reuben’s parents always knew they would make a fine couple and they were right! Despite the fact that they got separated by time and distance, it was not enough to match the power of love.
They found a way into each other arms and are having their perfect fairytale. We can hear the jolly sounds of wedding bells and we are so excited for them as they embark on their forever journey. Their pre-wedding photos are nothing short of beautiful and they will certainly add a truckload of sweetness to your day!

Their love story as shared by Stephanie:
It all started in 2008 in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Both Reuben and I attended the same secondary school (St. Christopher’s). There were barely any other black students let alone Nigerians. Reuben was a year above me and in the same class as my older brother but what drew us to eventually meet was our parents. We also happened to attend the same church and our parents quickly became friends. The times his family came over to visit, Reuben’s father that would tell his sons that “there’s a fine babe in the house and you’re keeping shy!”
We were young and I was mostly aware of his sisters while Reuben & his brother mostly interacted with my brothers. However, we were aware of each other as innocently as secondary school students can be. Soon my family and I moved away to the US and communication dwindled to the occasional ‘happy birthday’ on Facebook but our parents held out a wish that we’d connect. THEY WERE CONSPIRING!
Eventually, when I started the first year of my doctorate program and Reuben, the final year of his master’s degree in 2019, my phone number found its way to his phone via our mothers. We had already rekindled and reconnected by then and begun conversations on our own. Our parents had no clue!! Although, Reuben will remind me of the time I ghosted him for a month, we’ve never gone a day without talking with each other.
Here is how Reuben popped the question:
Three years later and a couple of visits to Nigeria, Reuben surprised me in January 2022! He proposed in the most intimate setting with just close family members to witness. He first had to fool me while we were out having dinner that he had too much to drink. and I helped him up the steps to where we were staying at the time. Of course, I cried when I opened the door to the surprise decor, flowers, chocolates, and champagne. Then he dropped to one knee and asked the question that changed the projection of our lives forever. “Stephanie, will you marry me?” And of course I said “YES!” Now, we’re a few weeks away to the wedding. It feels written in the books and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
