Editor‘s Note: Hey guys, we are super excited about this week’s bridal beauty deep-dive. Yes! we are going deep into the behind-the-scenes of creating this flawless on Winnie in London for her wedding. This feature is from talented London-based Makeup Artist, Joy Adenuga. She will be sharing with us the tricks, hacks, and secrets behind this glam. Enjoy and see you in the comment section. Before then, you can catch up with other features here.
Before the Wedding
The enquiries for Winnie‘s wedding first came in via her sister – Chanel. I was then booked without a trial. A consultation was arranged just before the wedding where I met Chanel and my bride, Winnie and then we finalized her preferred look at this meeting.
On the Wedding
Her wedding location was the fabulous Hylands house based in Chelmsford, Essex. After her hair was prepped by Touched Beauty Services, I began her makeup.
Makeup process
I started by cleansing and hydrating her skin. Winnie is blessed with beautiful full brows and she didn’t want them looking overdone so I filled the empty gaps using Anastasia Beverly Hills brow definer in medium brown and brushed through using a clear brow gel. The inspiration for her eye look came from a past bride I had worked on. I basically used the same palette – Violet Voss The holy grail eye shadow palette to recreate the look which I then tailor-made to suit her beautiful eyes. Now, Winnie has quite an oily skin so I used my fingers to apply Ponds vanishing cream (very oily) to her entire face.
When it was time to cover her face, I used the NARS all day luminous weightless foundation in a mix of New Guinea and Macao. When it got to her under the eye, I applied NARS creamy concealer in a mix of Amande and caramel. This was set using Laura Mercier loose setting powder in Translucent. Honestly, I have to say that Winnie‘s face was literally made for contour, I used MAC studio fix powder in Nw55 to add definition to her face. To add more light and shine to her face I applied Becca shimmering skin perfector in Topaz and a hint of Bobbi Brown shimmer brick in bronze.
This image does not do justice to how Winnie was radiating after this step. I completed this step with the MAC blush in Dollymix and I must say that the pictures do not do justice to how Winnie was radiating after this. On her lips, I started with MAC lip liner in Chestnut followed by Delilah cosmetics lipstick in Grace. A clear lip gloss added to just the middle of the lips finished off the makeup. Winnie was a complete beauty in her AloNuko dress.
